Over the course of your apprenticeship training, you will build up a detailed knowledge of your chosen field. But this is all theoretical until you start to use it in your everyday role. The nature of apprenticeship training means that what you study is relevant to real job roles, so you will find that your training comes in very handy at work. Transferring your skills from theory into practice is what will take your learning to the next level.

Ask questions

During your training, you should take full advantage of your trainer’s expertise. Ask as many questions as you can, especially if you are unsure of how something could relate to the work that you do. If you think you may have a silly question, remember that it’s better to ask it during your training than to be left confused when it comes to applying the skill in the real world.

Discuss what you’ve learned

When you come back to work after your apprenticeship training, make sure to have a chat with your manager about how you got on with the training. Letting them know what you have learned will allow them to give you more opportunities to use your new found skills in your day to day duties.

Hit the ground running

If you see an opportunity to use the skills you’ve learned on your training, go for it! The faster you start to apply your knowledge into your role, the more likely you are to remember it. This quick turnaround of knowledge into practice is one of the unique advantages of apprenticeship training.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes

It’s normal to feel unsure when you first start to apply apprenticeship training into your role. However, the only way to build up your confidence is through experience. Remember that your mentor will be able to support you as you put your new knowledge to the test, so don’t be afraid to give it a go!

Implement new ideas

If you come across anything in your training that you think could improve the way that things are done at your work, you should suggest it to your manager. As tech is constantly evolving, there is a good chance that you will be picking up some tips and tricks that they may not be aware of. Suggesting innovative ideas is a great way to impress your manager and team.
