We’re proud to announce the renewal of our commitment to Equality and Diversity at Baltic with an Equality Standard Gold Award.

Equality and diversity is hugely important for any business, and society, and at Baltic, we support this wholeheartedly in our own team, and with our apprentices.

All apprentices on our programmes complete an Equality and Diversity micro-teach to ensure they understand and learn about its importance. Our assessors are our apprentice’s point of contact for this, and the training is delivered in one to one discussion so the session is very interactive.

Our own team all complete mandatory Equality and Diversity awareness, with our managers taking Level 2 qualifications to ensure their understanding and commitment to cultivating a diverse culture at work.

Baltic are actively involved in supporting underrepresented groups in technology, including the introduction of our Future is Female campaign which supports young women breaking into the tech sector. Women are an underrepresented group in the tech industry, and The Future is Female campaign is here to support and empower women who are entering the industry. Our campaign is a huge reflection of Baltic’s values, and how diversity adds value to industries, as well businesses.

Community engagement is at the centre of Baltic’s values, both internally and externally. We actively engage with our community: routinely interviewing apprentices, and employers, to learn about their experiences, as well as promoting their success. In addition to this, we also have offered substantial support to local charities. This year, our charity partner is Together 21, who we are currently hosting fundraisers for, and working with to support their amazing work supporting families and children with Down Syndrome in the North East.

Our learners receive support from the Baltic team, with routine check-ins from their assessors where they can raise any concerns about Equality and Diversity, or anything else, and access to our 24/7 apprentice helpline. The apprentice helpline is part of our commitment to the Mindful Employer charter to actively encourage positive mental health and provides support to anyone struggling available.

We’re excited to be continuing our commitment to Equality and Diversity and look forward to changing the landscape of diversity in technology in the future.
